What is the Biology of Trauma®?

Many people carry unresolved trauma in their bodies, often without realizing it. This stored trauma can block healing from chronic health conditions, mood disorders, and digestive issues.

The Biology of Trauma® approach addresses this through three essential components:
  • Somatic Work - practices that help reconnect with the body and restore a felt sense of safety
  • Parts Work - based on Internal Family Systems (IFS), to build trust with inner parts stuck in the past
  • Biology Work - understanding how trauma impacts the nervous system and physiology

The goal is to help clients become aware of their nervous system state, and apply the right tools to shift out of survival mode and into regulation. As safety is restored, we tap into the body’s natural healing wisdom using more advanced somatic techniques.
A deeper layer of the work involves gently connecting with parts of the self that may still be stuck in past trauma. By building trust and attuning to the body’s signals, clients begin to uncover the roots of their patterns and move towards healing.

As a result, clients often experience:
  • A more regulated nervous system
  • Increased capacity to handle stress
  • Greater connection to their health, emotions, and authentic self
